Space Mafia
An Among Us-style murder mystery that runs in your DMs.
The lobby is in a channel. The game happens in your DMs.
Run /sus new in any channel and players press join. When the host
presses begin, everyone gets a role card and a live control panel in their DMs:
their room, who is standing nearby, their task list, cooldowns and sabotage timers.
Crewmates finish tasks or vote out every impostor. Impostors win by killing down to parity, or by letting the reactor blow. Bots can fill the empty seats and argue right back.
Lobby control console
This is an interactive illustration only. It does not start, join or represent a live game, and the names below are fictional. Player limits come from the bot's configuration: minimum 4, maximum 10.
Game phase
Players join, the host pads the crew with bots (+ bot / − bot), pings the server with ping players, then hits begin.
A body is reported or the emergency button is hit. Everyone gathers in the cafeteria; chat lines relay into every living player's DMs while the discussion timer runs.
Vote menus slide into living players' DMs. Majority ejects; ties and skip-majority eject nobody. Then it is back to tasks.
A victory card posts in the channel with the full case file: role reveal, kill timeline, kill-cam reel and voting record. One button starts a rematch.
Demo note: phase tabs and seat counts above are local to your browser.
Crewmates, impostors, and the ones in between
Crewmate Does tasks tied to rooms, reports bodies, and gets one emergency button.
Impostor Kills, vents, sabotages and fakes tasks. The second impostor is always a Shapeshifter.
| Role | Side | Power |
|---|---|---|
| Crewmate | crew | Tasks tied to rooms, report, one emergency. |
| Scientist | crew | Vitals button — who is truly alive (30s cooldown). |
| Engineer | crew | Vent network access (30s cooldown). |
| Guardian Angel | crew | Shield someone for 10s (45s cooldown). |
| Sheriff | crew | One bullet — shoot a suspect sharing your room; a wrong shot kills an innocent. |
| Jester | neutral | Wins instantly if voted out. |
| Marionette | neutral | Clips secret controllers on crewmates and casts their votes; wins alone when puppets outnumber everyone else. |
| Impostor | impostor | Kill, vent, sabotage, fake tasks. |
| Shapeshifter | impostor | As impostor, plus morph into anyone for 20s. |
Special roles unlock as the ship fills: Scientist at 4 players, Engineer at 5, Guardian Angel at 6, Sheriff at 7, Marionette at 8, Jester at 9. Bots play the special roles too.
What a vote looks like
A static example of the DM vote menu. Real ballots appear in players' DMs during a game.
Majority ejects. Ties and a skip-majority eject nobody. Dead players keep spectating and can still chat in the ghost channel.
Rooms, sabotage and minigames
The ship
- 14 rooms connected by corridors; each hop takes about 6 seconds by default.
- Vents are instant teleports, for Engineers and impostors only.
- Sabotages (shared 60s cooldown): lights out, comms down, sealed doors, reactor meltdown.
- Bodies stay where they fall until somebody walks in and reports them.
- Cameras in Security and the Admin table give live, refreshing views.
Tasks are real minigames
- Fix Wiring, Swipe Card, Unlock Manifolds, Calibrate Distributor, Align Engine Output.
- Clear Asteroids, Stabilize Steering, Chart Course, Download / Upload, Inspect Sample.
- Clean O2 Filter, Water Plants, Sort Records, Charge Laptop, Reset Breakers, Fuel Engines.
- Short tasks finish where you solve them; long tasks make you stay put.
- Impostors get the same minigames with zero progress on the bar.
The task bar counts completed steps, not whole tasks.
Tune the voyage
The host opens /sus settings for an interactive panel. Settings are saved per channel and apply to every new game, with some applied live.
| Setting | Range / values | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
kill_cooldown | 10–60 s | Seconds between impostor kills. |
walk_seconds | 3–15 s | Time per room-to-room hop. |
tasks_per_crew | 2–8 | Tasks each crewmate must finish. |
long_task_seconds | 6–30 s | How long a long task holds you in place. |
ai_chatter | on / off | Whether bots use AI-generated chat (needs a key). |
impostors | 1–3 | Force the impostor count. |
sabotage_cooldown | 15–120 s | Seconds between sabotages. |
A preset button cycles Quick → Classic → Slow burn in one tap.
Running a game
| Command | Who | What it does |
|---|---|---|
/sus new | anyone | Open a lobby in this channel. |
/sus bots n | host | Set the bot-player count directly (lobby only). |
/sus settings | host | Open the house-rules panel. |
/sus panel | players | Re-send your control panel to your DMs. |
/sus task | players | List your remaining (or fake) tasks. |
/sus spectate | anyone | Get a sanitized spectator feed in your DMs. |
/sus end | host | Abort the running game. |
/mm queue | anyone | Join the cross-server matchmaking queue from any server. |
No crew handy? /mm queue matches you with players from every server the bot is in. You need
to have joined the hub server to queue; once at least four people are waiting, a 45-second countdown runs
and the bot opens a public thread there for the match.
From lobby to case file
- Lobby —
/sus new, players join, the host adds bots and begins. - Play — walk the ship, do tasks, watch the bar fill. Impostors stalk and sabotage.
- Report — a body or the emergency button gathers everyone and starts discussion.
- Vote — menus open in DMs; majority decides who gets ejected.
- Win — crew by tasks or ejections; impostors by parity or a blown reactor.
- Rematch — the victory card rebuilds the lobby with who stayed.
